House of New Beginnings

What is the House of New Beginnings?

The “House of New Beginnings” is a “Hand up” for men who have stumbled in life. We offer housing, addiction recovery programs, and introduce them to Christian living through fellowship, studies, and attendance at the church of their choice.

Who Operates the House of New Beginnings?

The "House of New Beginnings" was started by Bolivar Alcoholics Victorious in May of 2003. In March of 2005, we became an outreach of Intervention Ministries.

Who Funds the House of New Beginnings?

Since we are a Christian organization, we choose funding sources that do not compromise our Christian faith. We have the support of local churches and Christian organizations in the area. We have many individuals who have blessed us financially. We are seeking more groups and individuals interested in supporting local missions.

The next day he took out two silver coins and gave them to the innkeeper. "Look after him" he said, "and when I return I will reimburse you for any extra expense you may have."

— Luke 10:35

What are Residents Required to Pay?

Our residents are required to give a set protion of their income weekly, but more residents come to us unemployed. A resident's basic living expenses are covered by the ministry until he is able to establish employment.

How Can You Help?

We have many needs at the House of New Beginnings:

  • Most importantly we need your prayers for our leadership and residents' sustained recovery.
  • You could volunteer as a mentor for a man who may have never been in church.
  • You could lead an on-going Bible study for men hungry for God's word.
  • You may be able to help a man find a job when he feels unworthy of a job.
  • You might be able to help with construction and remodelong needs for the building itself.
  • You, your church group, or your business might consider becoming a financial partner in this ministry through monthly contributions.
  • You may only be able to give one time, but every little bit counts in a life that is being rebuilt.

Who can Qualify for this Program?

Our basic target group is men who have lost their way due to alcoholism or drug addictoin. However, we assist men in many diverse situations. We have helped men going through divorce and college men without addiction issues who simply had nowhere else to go because of financial hardhshlps. We never know who God will send, but we want to help as many men as we can.

. . . Jesus told him, "Go and do likewise."

— Luke 10:37

What is the Program?

We have a thorough application process. Our residents have to attend church at the church of his choice. Men with addiction issues must attend recovery group meetings. Men without employment must actively seek employment and must volunteer at local charities whenever possible. These are all designed to help make a life change in our residents.

Testimonials

I was in prison three years for being involved with drugs and alcohol. The whole time Satan's minions surrounded me. The House of New Beginnings provides me with a Christian fellowship. With this opportunity, I'm not assaulted with more criminal mentality. The House of New Beginnings has provided me with a real chance to prove my walk in Christ.

Shawn, resident

I myself was given the opportunity to reside at the House of New Beginnings when my life took a wrong turn. I ended up lost and hungry and without spiritual guidance in my life. It gave me the opportunity to find myself. Most of all, it gave me the opportunity to awaken my spiritual being from a long rest under a cloud of self-abuse. The house is growing, and the number of individuals it will provide for in the future will be a blessing in itself. We can make a difference. The House of New Beginnings is proof!
