Ozark Meth: A Journey of Destruction and Deliverance is a new book written by Dick Dixon, director of Intervention Ministries, and Laura Valenti, ten year veteran of the Laclede County Sheriff's Department and former Jail Administrator.
Ozark Meth includes in depth interviews with 30 meth addicts, now in recovery. They tell how they got on and why, how they off, and what it means to al of us living in America today!
An entire generation is being lost to this incredibly destructive drug. This book looks at meth from the addict's point of view and explains what we all can do — must do — it it's ever going to stop!
"We all know someone whose life has been ravaged
by meth,
either directly or indirectly.
Please pass this on to someone
you know how needs help."
— Laura V.

Though many things can be addictive, meth addictions is particularly destructive. There are four points of entry to addressing the meth problem. They are prevention, which involves efforts in education and creating awareness; intervention, which provides a relational opportunity to step out of meth; treatment, which can be residential or non-residential; and interdiction, which may mean imprisonment.
Prevention is less expensive than Intervention; Intervention is less expensive than Treatment; Treatment is less expensive than Interdiction.
The tendency is to act on the two end points, prevention and interdiction. Any community agency, civic group or church family can pin up a warning poster and hand out pamphlets on the devastating effects of meth addiction. Providing continuous creative awareness to all age sets is always essential. Meth education must be fresh and vigorous throughout all possible channels.
The point of interdiction falls to the local law enforcement agency. An alert community can be of immense support to them by reporting suspected meth activity.
Relational intervention is much harder to achieve and sustain, but the reward is huge in human terms. Intervention brings a positive relational connection between those affected by meth and those who are not afraid to say "Friend, I understand the power of addiction myself and am here to lend you a helping hand if you want to step out of your meth problems."
The rallies at the IM Center and around the area are a place to find a way for life after meth. Each event is attended by real survivors of meth—overcomers who have used, manufactured, sold and done prison time for all the above.
Treatment is the optimum recovery point for those affected by meth. Residential treatment care can greatly accelerate the recovery process.
Bolivar now has the "House of New Beginnings" a "Hand up" for men who have stumbled in life. They offer housing, addiction recovery programs, and introduce them to Christian living through fellowship, studies, and attendance at the church of their choice. Click here for more information.
"Lord Jesus, I believe You died for me, and I believe you live again. I believe You have forgiven me, and I believe You can help me defeat my addiction. Come into my life and fill me with Your Spirit, help me to organize my life around You."

The Power of Crystal Meth
I destroy home, I tear families apart
I take your children, and that's just a start
I'm more valued than diamonds, more precious than gold
The sorrow I bring is a sight to behold
If you need me, I'm easily found
I live all around you, in your school and in your town
I live with the rich and with the poor
I live just down the street or maybe next door
I'm made in a lab, but not like you think
I can even be made under your kitchen sink
I have many names, but there's one you'll know best
I'm sure you've heard of me, my name is "crystal meth"
My power is awesome, try me you'll see
But if you do, you may never break free
Just try me once, I might let you go
But if you try me twice, I am your soul
When I possess you, you'll steal and you'll lie
You'll do what you have to just to stay high
The crimes you'll commit for my narcotic charms
Will be worth the pleasures you'll feel in my arms
You'll lie to your mom and steal from you dad
When you
see their tears, you won't even be sad
Just forget your morals and how you were raised
I'll be your conscience, I'll teach you my ways
I'll take everything from you, your looks and your pride
I'll always be with you, right by your side
I'll take and I'll take 'til you have no more to give
When I'm finished with you, you'll be lucky to live
If you try me, be warned, this is not a game
If I'm given a chance, I'll drive you insane
The nightmares I'll give you while you're lying in bed
The voices you'll hear from inside your head
The sweats, the shakes, the visions you'll see
I want you to know these gifts are from me
My power is awesome I've told you before
I can take your mother and make her a whore
I'll be your master, I'll be your slave
I'll even take you to your grave
By then it's too late, you'll know in your heart
That you are now mine, and we shall not part
You'll regret that you tried me—they always do
But you came to me, not I to you
You knew this would happen, many times you were told
But you challenged my power, you chose me to be bold
You could have told me "NO" then walked away
If you could live that over, now what would you say?
Now that you've met me, what will you do?
Will you try me or not, it's all up to you
I can show you more misery than words can tell
Come hold my hand . . .
Let me lead you to Hell!
